21st Century

Today's world and economy requires that you know more than just facts and contents.  Employers now find that students coming into the workforce lack the necessary skills in order to perform effectively in the workplace.  While those coming into the workplace may have content knowledge, they lack critical thinking, problem solving and innovative skills needed to perform beyond the boundaries of their jobs.  The 21st century skills that are necessary in today's global economy are:

  • information media literacy
  • technological literacy
  • critical thinking and problem solving
  • creative thinking
  • communication
  • collaboration
  • cross-cultural
  • leadership
  • social
  • self-monitoring and self-direction
  • project management
  • ethic and civic responsibility
  • accountability

Some will note that the 21st century skills are very similar to the school's Habits of Heart and Mind.  It is our goal that with focus on the Habits of Heart and Mind, students will not only become college and career ready but become good citizens of the world.
